t's easy to experience the Susquehanna for yourself! Just take your canoe or kayak and float down the river following the River trail which is a cooperative effort through the following organizations:

ALLIANCE FOR THE CHESAPEAKE BAY
THE CITY OF HARRISBURG
PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION AND NATURAL RESOURCES
PENNSYLVANIA FISH AND BOAT COMMISSION
PENNSYLVANIA GAME COMMISSION

he Susquehanna River Trail extends 24 miles from Halifax to Harrisburg. It incorporates four access sites and ten river islands designated for day use and primitive camping.

olunteer groups have already adopted islands and access sites. These volunteers will serve as trail stewards for maintenance, monitoring resource impacts and tracking public use.

he Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay is currently working on extending the River Trail 27 miles up the river to Sunbury, and is working on a new website to spotlight the trail along with developing a new map to include the newest access points and stops.
