oordinating and developing a watershed association takes a lot of hard work, and a lot of cooperation from a variety of volunteer, state, and local agencies. In this video production, produced by Tom Musto Productions in Wilkes Barre, we visit with representatives from the North Eastern office of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council as well as folks throughout the North Eastern region to discuss the problems watersheds in the Wyoming Valley are facing.

any of the issues facing the Wyoming Valley area involves abandoned mine drainage. This pollution seeps into the Lackawanna River through discharges left abandoned many years prior. The area has over 15,000 acres of abandoned mine lands that are devoid of vegetation. All of this pollution travels through the Lackawanna River to the Susquehanna River, and then eventually to the Chesapeake Bay.

y working together, the Coalition hopes address these issues and clean up the mine drainage sites.
