How can you protect your watershed?

Join the Waterhsed Alliance of Adams County.
Volunteer!!!. There are projects in your community, which need your help. Contact us for details.
Properly dispose of hazardous chemicals
Don't over fertilize your lawn, garden or crops. It is costly as well as hurts the environment
Recycle used motor oil. One quart of oil can contaminate 2 million gallons of water
Don't waste water. Use low-flow faucets and showerheads. Fix leaks. Only run your washing machine and dishwasher at full capacity
Plant groundcover or spread mulch on bare soil to minimize erosion. This will also increase groundwater recharge while decreasing runoff
Inspect your septic system annually. Pump your septic tank every three years
