ishing Creek Watershed Association is only three years old, but what an impact it has made in Columbia County and the State of Pennsylvania. It has not only gained recognition in this area and surrounding counties but also statewide. This is due largely to a fellow who has devoted so much of his "retired" life to this organization that he probably is wishing he were still working at Bloomsburg University! You know the old saying - "I don't know how I ever got things done when I was working?" Well, I am sure Chuck Chapman is saying, "I don't know how I get things done being retired!"

nselfish, creative, dedicated to the environment, spontaneous, philanthropic, are just a few words that describe Chuck Chapman. This man's energy is unending. He gives so much of his time to this organization that he makes most of us weary. I have never (and I ask a lot) heard him refuse to help in anyway he can. If he is not making presentations on Power Point to local agencies, statewide watershed groups, going to seminars, workshops, township meetings, meetings of local Trout Unlimited Chapters, sportsmen groups, then HE MUST BE SLEEPING!! Even on vacation, he takes his laptop with him to e-mail when needed.

he FCWA is very fortunate to have successfully received 2 Growing Greener Grants and a DCNR Grant to restore a streambank with FGM methods on Fishing Creek and create a nature park on the property in memory of a young man who passed away at 15 from a heart condition. These projects will have a great impact on Fishing Creek and on the watershed group that has made it all possible. Many good volunteers have shared in the success of FCWA with a strong leadership in Chuck Chapman.

very organization should be so blessed with a person with such dedication. The Fishing Creek Watershed Association is very grateful to Chuck for its success.
