Exceptional Underwriting Opportunity Available
Now!
Life on the Delaware first aired throughout
the mid-Atlantic region in fall 2004 and was so
well received that American Public Television
(APT) plans to release it to the rest of the nation’s
349 PBS stations in September 2005. GreenTreks
is in the process of securing final underwriting
support to maximize the program’s impact
during its national release. Find out how you

Acclaimed one-hour celebration of the mighty Delaware
River set
to air on Public Television Stations across the nation
in 2005.
Sadly it took a disastrous oil spill to shine a spotlight
on the Delaware River, an underappreciated resource
that is the literal and figurative lifeblood of the
13,539 square mile watershed it serves. The Delaware:
home to the second largest petrochemical complex in
the country. Transportation corridor for the majority
of the region’s unrefined oil. Relied upon by
fishermen, redknots, horseshoe crabs, and shad. Provider
of fresh water to ten percent of the nation’s
residents, from New York City to the Delaware Bay.
Life on the Delaware is a one of a kind film
that takes viewers on an intimate journey into the lives
of some of the extraordinary individuals who have committed
to making the Delaware a healthy waterway for the generations
to come. It not only presents this working class river
as an equal of the nation’s better known waterways,
it shares lessons that apply to communities all over
the world. Ultimately, it instills a new sense of stewardship
and inspires individuals to protect the environment,
plants, animals, and quality of water in their own watershed,
wherever they live.
The On Location series
GreenTreks On Location is a series of environmental
travelogues that focus on the diverse eco-regions of
North America and uncover stories of people working
to protect their environment and make their communities
thrive. Each one-hour television special will be accompanied
by a website, a virtual resource center and online community
that provides expanded multimedia content and ways for
viewers to become personally involved.
One of the unique aspects of On Location is
the "organic" life that each program in the
series is expected to take. Our intention is to connect
television viewers and web visitors with an area and
its issues through the people who are making a difference
today; to shine a spotlight on the local environmental
community and build additional support for the great
work local groups do. The ultimate goal of On Location
is to provide the resources, connections, and inspiration
for people to become involved in their own communities,
just like the individuals highlighted in every show.
On Location is produced in collaboration with
dozens of national, regional, and local partners and
is funded by a broad range of foundation and corporate
support, as well as individual members. Like all of
our programs, each episode of GreenTreks On Location
is made better thanks to input from interested viewers
like you. Talk
to us and let us know what you think.
