Wetlands offer many things to plants and animals, as well as
humans. They provide essential filtering mechanisms for pollutants
in our water, help protect us from floods, offer unique plants
and food for wildlife, and provide humans with a place of wonder
and a sense of serenity.
In this six-minute preview we travel to Black Moshannon State
Park in Centre County for a glimpse at a rare wetland system
in Pennsylvania. As you’ll see, there are many plants
found here that are at the southern end of their range —
normally found in Canada. Rare gems like the Pitcher Plant are
just some of the things that attract naturalists to this beautiful
area.
