David Biddle, executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Commercial Recycling Council, has been involved in environmental planning and economic development in the Philadelphia region for more than 20 years.

In the late 1980s he was a senior planner in the Philadelphia Recycling Office and helped create both the city's residential and commercial recycling programs. He has performed over five hundred commercial and institutional waste and recycling audits since 1984.

David has a Master's degree in Energy Management and Public Policy from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Reed College in Portland, Oregon. He has written numerous articles for national magazines and trade journals on economic development and commercial recycling, including one in the Harvard Business Review that caused quite a stir (reprinted by Harvard Business School Press in Harvard Business Review on Business and the Environment ). He is a contributing editor to In Business magazine published by JG Press ( JG Press ).
