Falcons are a family of 39 species, including the Prairie, Crested
Caracara, American Kestrel, Merlin, and White Falcon. The Peregrine
Falcon is of particular interest to many wildlife lovers because
the bird reaches 120-175 miles per hour while diving (or “stooping,”
as it’s called).
Historically, humans have harnessed the skills of the falcon
to help deliver messages and hunt for food. In many cultures
they are given to royalty as gifts.
Some falcon species are among those listed on the world’s
endangered
species list. But in many cases their numbers are improving.
Many individuals, companies, governments, and organizations
have committed to recovering the threatened raptor populations.

of the Raptor is a video that features some of the people
involved in the effort to save these creatures. |
