SCHUYLKILL VALLEY RAIL TRAIL
From Valley Forge all the way to Philadelphia, a trail stretches along the banks of the Schuylkill River providing city folk and suburbanites alike with a great opportunity to enjoy some fresh air and exercise. Converted from abandoned railroad tracks, different sections of the trail now accommodate mountain bikers, roller bladers, joggers and people just out for a stroll. Best yet, the rail-trails can be found all over the state!
Check out our video on this subject, and some of the links below. For still more information, contact the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy at (717) 238-1717.

OUR EXTRA
Rafting is an action-packed sport that isn't necessarily for everyone. Find out if you have what it takes...
Whitewater Rafting: Can you handle it?
When choosing a first whitewater trip, it is important to figure out your physical abilities and excitement threshold. Some trips are relatively calm and mild, while others are next-to-insane. Luckily, the intensity of whitewater has a standard rating system from levels I through VI.
Levels I and II are easy-going, suitable for families with young children looking for a little wholesome adventure. Class III requires some real paddling and will probably get you wet, but is not extremely dangerous. Class IV involves crucial maneuvering in order to avoid some very serious obstacles. Class V is for experts only, and Class VI are not considered navigable.
Most whitewater trips require people to know how to swim. If
that is a problem, there are other float trips that you may
prefer. People with disabilities or a fear of getting wet can
also enjoy some very intense whitewater by doing so from the
sidelines. Paddling races take place all over state of Pennsylvania.
