After the realization in the 1920s that over 70% of PA’s forests had been destroyed, Gifford Pinchot and Dr. Joseph Rothrock moved the timber industry in an entirely new direction. They are known as pioneers of modern forestry for their leadership in:

B. planting trees, creation of public lands
and controlling wildfires

C. faster, more efficient machines for cutting
and hauling trees
