June 25, 2002

Today we woke up at 5:30 and broke camp. When we were done, we ate breakfast, including pancakes with ham and orange juice. Then we were off paddling in the river again, until we stopped before the chute. The shoot was right before the Treichlers Bridge, the area where we ate lunch.

At lunch we had Pork, either barbecue or chicken sandwiches. The meal also included assorted fruits and vegetables, chips, and pretzels. The program during lunch was about reptiles and amphibians. Rich Rosevera, from the Trexler County Game Preserve, presented the program well. He had snakes, two frogs, one toad, turtles, and salamanders. When we went back to our canoe my mom, brother, sister, my neighbor, and the boy my mom baby-sits were holding a sign saying, "Ahoy there Capt. Mauser, Greg, and Nick." After we saw them and waved we left for the rest of our sojourn.

On our way down the river a couple hit a big rock and flipped. The pressure from the water than crushed the canoe to make it bend around the rock. We waited about 45 minutes until the safety patrol pulled it away from the rock. When they were pulling it out we swam in the water to cool off. When we got the canoe off the rock we docked at the Tri-Boro Sportsman's Club and had a small snack. During that time there was a kayaking demo. They got a group of kids and taught them how to kayak. We met up with our friend Brittney who only stayed for day two.

When we got to the campsite E.J. "The Snake Man" was showing his snakes, turtles, and his Nile Monitor Lizard named Max. He's been showing his animals for fifteen years and drives a hearse. I think this was the highlight of the day because he had a big variety of animals. He told us which snakes that he had lived around here and which ones are from out of town. After looking at the snakes and turtles, we ate dinner. We had a pig roast that included macaroni, baked beans, chips, and pretzels. We also have a band that is going to be playing music for us tonight. Then will come the end of the fourth day. Two more days and we will finish completing the 2002 Lehigh River Sojourn.
