June 21, 2002

My family arrived at Mauch Chunk Lake Park, where we met Nick's family, and Mr. Mauser. We set up the tents and unpacked our bags. Our campsite is in an ideal location: Close to the pavilion (where we eat) and the bathrooms. After a picnic dinner, our families left, and Mr. Mauser took us (Nick & I) down to the lake to fish. I caught a 4-inch Bluegill, then utterly humiliated myself by tangling the line, catching trees, and other mishaps. I figure, if I mess up now, I'll do fine on the river. We went back to the pavilion for an introductory program about the Lehigh River watershed. After this, we went for a late-night fishing trip, which resulted in no catches. Cold and wet, we turned in for the night.
