Carol Lee Lindner, Coach for Against the Wind dragon boat Team
Describes a moment from their night time practices on the river.
"Oh it's unbelievable. In fact I'll say stop the boat, hold
water, just look at the moon , the lights on the boathouse
the
birds are coming in and they are skimming across the water
it's
beautiful."

Water is such a curative and I've always felt an infinity to water
there
is a well-spring in me that has been covered for so many years and
now has just opened and is starting to bubble up. I think it's the
same with the others as well. We've worked hard but this has gotten
into our blood. The river is there, it's a part of us and we are a
part of it. It's unthinkable to think we would stop now, we've just
started. |

Anne
Matthews, Against the Wind team member
When asked how she felt about her husband and son shaving their
head in honor of her goal to be a member of this team she replied,
"It makes me feel so good, so wonderfully supported. I kept
saying to my husband you don't really have to do this but he'd say,
no I said I would do it and I'm going to do it."

This has not been one of my particular places for spending time
other than sometimes when I'm driving into town. I'll admit that
sometimes I'll pull off and just hang. I have memory after memory
of being here.
